Step 1: Create your account
Joining takes a few minutes. Choose your username, tell us who you'd like to meet and the age range you have in mind, and add a photo or two. A clear, recent photo of your face does more than anything else to get replies. A photo of your go-to plant is great too, but as your second picture.
You'll need to be 18 or over to join.
Step 2: Build a profile that sounds like you
Your profile is where you say how cannabis fits into your life, as much or as little as you like. Some people are upfront ("daily smoker, home grower, always up for a cookout"). Others keep it light ("edibles at the weekend, mostly into hiking and movies and TV"). Both work. What matters is that it's honest, so the people who message you already like what they see.
A few prompts that make profiles easier to reply to:
- Your ideal 420-friendly evening, from start to finish.
- The thing you'll talk about for hours (strains, cooking, music, gardening, conspiracy documentaries).
- What you're looking for: a partner, a date, a smoking buddy or friends.
- Your dealbreakers, kindly put.
Your profile and match suggestions take lifestyle habits like smoking into account, as well as your interests, so it's worth filling them in.
Step 3: Find people you'd like to meet
There are two ways to find people. You can browse members yourself, and you'll get match suggestions based on what you've told us. Suggestions take into account things like age range, distance, what you're looking for and lifestyle habits, so the more complete your profile is, the better they get.
VIP members can also use advanced search filters, such as city and distance, to get more specific.
Every member gets daily match suggestions.
Step 4: Start talking
When someone catches your eye, say hello. Skip the generic "hey" and mention something from their profile: their go-to strain, the band in their photo, the trip they mentioned. A specific first message shows you've actually read it.
Free members can send a limited number of messages each day. VIP gives you unlimited private messaging, plus read receipts so you know when a message has been seen.
If a conversation isn't for you, you don't owe anyone a reply. You can block anyone instantly, so they can no longer contact or see you, and report a user or anything they've posted from within the site.
Step 5: Meet when you're both ready
There's no rush. Many people like a video call before meeting in person. When you do meet, pick a public place, tell a friend your plans and keep a clear head for that first date. Cannabis laws vary a lot from place to place, so make sure you both know the rules where you meet. Our Safety page has a full checklist.
Tips for getting more replies
- Lead with your face. Make your first photo a clear, recent one, without sunglasses and without a cloud of smoke in front of you.
- Be specific. "Into hiking, vinyl and slow-cooked food" gives people something to reply to. "Chill guy, likes to smoke" doesn't.
- Be honest about frequency. It saves both of you time if a daily smoker and an occasional user know where they stand from the start.
- Check in often. Replying within a day or two keeps conversations alive.

How long does it take to join?
A few minutes to create your account. A good profile takes a little longer, but you can come back and add to it whenever you like.
Do I need to say how much I smoke?
No. You decide what goes on your profile. Being honest helps you meet people who are a good fit, but how much you share is up to you.
Can people who don't smoke join?
Yes. Lots of people are happy to date someone who enjoys cannabis without partaking themselves. Just say so on your profile.
Can I use Pot Dating on my phone?
Yes. Pot Dating works in your phone's browser, and you can install it on your home screen as a web app. There's no separate app to download from an app store.
How old do I need to be to join?
You need to be 18 or over. Sign-ups with a date of birth under 18 are blocked.
Can I delete my account?
Yes. You can delete your account whenever you like.
